The Hawthorn Arts Centre is a first-class arts and cultural facility for the City of Boroondara. Built in 1890 to house the City of Hawthorn’s council chambers, the building underwent a major redevelopment in 2012 to convert the former town hall into a regional arts space. Now a vibrant cultural precinct, the centre provides a curated performing and visual arts program and also operates as a function centre with the ability to host corporate, community and civic events of various sizes.
Refurbishment works to several different spaces within the centre included existing office space, commercial kitchen, Community Arts Space and associated works to improve acoustics, external façade works and security upgrades throughout.
