An important venue in the suite of available sporting facilities in Woodend, and home ground to the Woodend Hesket Football and Netball Club and the Woodend Cricket Club, Gilbert Gordon Reserve is situated approximately 70 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD. It is located in one of Victoria’s fastest growing non-metropolitan municipalities. In what was a whole community effort, this project to install new lights at the oval and courts has been achieved through a state government grant, a contribution from Macedon Ranges Shire Council and fundraising from the oval’s users.
Works to upgrade the entire site included switchboard upgrades; new submains to existing distribution board; supply and installation of 4 x 30m towers and 20 x 2000w metal halide light fittings; and supply and installation of 2 x 12m poles with 4 x 800w LED raptors.
