This photo was sent in by our Interiors team who are currently doing a job at the University of Melbourne’s ERC Library. The floor we are working on houses the ‘map collection’, which has maps dating back to the 1400-1500’s! While our team weren’t able to access any originals for understandable reasons, they were directed to the digitized collection online by the head of the maps collection, where every map held there can be found in high resolution online. They managed to find an old map of North Melbourne from c1896 and pinpointed Harris HMC’s location. It doesn’t look like Henderson Street had even been named yet!
