A unique and logistically challenging project to erect the Bowen and Queens Display Suite on top of an existing seven-storey car park building located close to Melbourne’s CBD. In close collaboration with the client, architect and consultants, Harris HMC proposed to construct the nine pre-fabricated modules off site to manage the council’s weekday constraints using cranes in this area.
Harris HMC provided valuable design input and construction of nine connected modules to create this bespoke two-storey display suite. On top of constructing, transporting, installing and fitting out the modules, we installed a series of additional steel columns and beams to structurally strengthen the building.

The scope of works included:

  • Off site construction of nine pre-fabricated modules
  • Site preparation in consultation with structural engineer
  • Fit out of sales gallery display and two replica apartments including downstairs penthouse with high-end kitchen, living room and toilet, and upstairs standard apartment with bathroom, kitchen and living area
  • Installation of joinery, flooring, fixtures and fittings
  • Painting and carpentry
  • Refurbished lobby reception area and upgraded lift to improve entrance amenities to display suite
  • Installation of plumbing services
  • Minimal external landscaping
