A high-end commercial office fit out for an Australian government department to bring together 300+ people across four different locations. With the Administrative Appeals Tribunal’s (AAT) lease to soon expire, our client was seeking to upgrade and refurbish four levels at the William Street location to allow judicial and administrative activity to be conducted from one location.

Harris HMC was engaged to deliver a complete commercial office fit out consisting of offices spaces, hearing rooms, dispute resolution rooms, meeting rooms and associated facilities. A key consideration was acoustic treatment to attenuate sound leakage from the hearing rooms. With the existing services, floor finishes and ceilings to remain, this challenging scope of works included the construction and installation of:

  • 25 hearing rooms meeting acoustic performance standards with bespoke hearing bench joinery and superior AV systems for video conferencing and recording
  • Over 250 workstations, 60 offices and 15 meeting rooms
  • Four kitchens including breakout spaces
  • Library space with custom shelving
  • Feature staircase between levels 4 and 5
  • Feature film and wall paneling
  • New mechanical, fire, electrical, security and AV service systems
  • Over $1.5m of new furniture and storage
